1. Introduction (परिचय)

This Privacy Policy explains how the Civil बंधु app for Android and Windows, and the website civilbandhu.in (together, the “Service”), operated by CHANDAN KUMAR (Legal Business), Chandigarh, India (“we”, “us”, “our”), collect, use and protect your information. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.

2. Information We Collect (हम कौन-सी जानकारी लेते हैं)

• Account information: when you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and a unique user ID through Google Sign-In and Firebase Authentication.
• Purchase information: the plan you bought, order ID, payment status, amount, date and the email entered at checkout. Payments are processed by Cashfree Payments (website, including all purchases for the Windows app) or Google Play (in-app on Android). We never receive or store your card, UPI or bank details.
• Study activity: test attempts, scores and progress, so the app can show your analysis (for example accuracy and questions solved). This is linked to your account, so it is the same on Android and Windows.
• Device and app information (Android): device model, operating system version and app version, used for compatibility, troubleshooting and notifications.
• Usage analytics (Android): how features are used (for example which books or tests are opened), collected through Google Firebase Analytics to improve the app.
• Notification token (Android): a Firebase Cloud Messaging token so we can send study reminders and updates. You can turn notifications off in your device settings at any time.
• Website visits: like most websites, our hosting server keeps standard access logs (IP address, browser type, pages and files requested — for example the Windows installer download) for security and to keep the site running.

NCERT chapters and papers you download are stored in the app’s storage on your own device (phone or PC) for offline reading. They are not uploaded to us.

3. Windows App (Windows ऐप)

The Windows app is available from the Microsoft Store and as a direct MSIX download from civilbandhu.in/windows.html. It works the same way as the Android app, with these differences:

• Sign-in: “Sign in with Google” opens in your PC’s default web browser. After you sign in, Google returns you to the app through a temporary connection on your own computer (localhost), and we receive only your name, email address and user ID, as described above.
• No analytics or push notifications: the Windows app does not use Firebase Analytics or Firebase Cloud Messaging, and does not send us your device model or a notification token.
• Device ID stays on your PC: the app reads your PC’s Windows device identifier only on your computer, to lock the downloaded offline content to that PC (so it cannot be copied to another computer). This identifier is not sent to us or to anyone else.
• Purchases: plans are bought on our website (Cashfree Payments), not through the Microsoft Store. A plan bought with the same email you use to sign in is activated on your account automatically.
• Update checks: the app reads a small version file from our server to tell you when a new version is available. No personal information is sent with this check.
• Microsoft: if you install the app from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft handles the download, installation, automatic updates and any ratings or reviews, and may collect information (such as diagnostic data, depending on your Windows settings) under the Microsoft Privacy Statement. We do not receive your Microsoft account details.

4. How We Use Your Information (उपयोग)

• To sign you in and provide the Service on your phone and PC.
• To activate your purchased plan on your account and verify purchases.
• To show your test results, progress and analysis.
• To send notifications about study content and app updates (Android).
• To answer support requests and prevent fraud or misuse.
• To understand usage and improve our content and features.

5. Sharing and Third-Party Services (थर्ड-पार्टी सेवाएँ)

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers needed to run the Service, under their own privacy policies:

• Google — Google Sign-In, Firebase Authentication, Firebase Analytics (Android), Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android) and Google Play billing.
• Microsoft — Microsoft Store distribution of the Windows app.
• Cashfree Payments — payment processing for website purchases.
• Our hosting provider — to store your account, purchase and progress data on our servers.

The app does not currently show third-party advertisements. We may disclose information if required by law.

6. Data Retention and Deletion (डेटा रखना व हटाना)

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can ask us to delete your account and personal data at any time — see Delete Account. Purchase and transaction records may be kept for longer where required by tax and accounting laws. To remove files stored on your device, uninstall the app (on Windows: Settings → Apps → Installed apps → Civil बंधु UPSC → Uninstall).

7. Security (सुरक्षा)

We use commercially reasonable measures, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and encrypted offline content, to protect your information. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights (आपके अधिकार)

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by emailing support@civilbandhu.in from your registered email.

9. Children (बच्चे)

The Service is meant for students preparing for competitive examinations and is not directed at children under 13. If you are under 18, please use the Service with the consent of a parent or guardian.

10. Changes to This Policy (बदलाव)

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are effective when posted on this page, with the “Last updated” date above.
